“The Empire Strikes Back” is the follow up to the piece “All White People Look The Same To Me”. Named after the ultimate sequel, the work plays with a wide range of references dealing with the history – and mystery – of the future: from Afrofuturism to constructivism, science fiction and Techno-culture. Equipped with human and non-human performers, this new chapter proposes several movements: from identity to the body; from representation to surface; from White people to the black box. “The Empire Strikes Back” indulges in the arresting representational bravado of Empire, while declaring war on both the violent racist legacies of ‘humanism’ and the uncreative dystopia of identity politics.
