no apocalypse not now

5779/2019

“no apocalypse not now”, a piece that takes the title from an essay by Jacques Derrida, was premiered right before COVID shut the world down and ushered us into another apocalyptic era. In ways that in hindsight might seem eerily prophetic, it offered an exuberant, critical and hopeful take on the question of the world‘s end. Investigating apocalyptic culture through a myriad of perspectives, the show envisioned new worlds unveiling the potentials and aesthetics of a reality after human kind. In its strange speculative togetherness, the piece proposed some revelations: joy without nihilism, optimism without fatigue, and fun without irony.
