5773/2013

“All White People Look The Same To Me: Notes on the National Pornographic” is the first piece by Ashbel and friends. An experiment in fictional anthropology, it studied the invention of alterity as a performative means. In it, various forms of spectacle, from ethnological expositions to contemporary documentary theatre, are examined, while shifting the gaze from the viewed to the viewer. In this freak show of the wild white west, there are no consumable answers, but rather a set of disturbing, confusing and entertaining relations, comprising of a fabulous perversity.
